Introduced to America in the early 20th century, the ukulele became very popular in Jazz music.

Like guitar, basic ukulele skills can be learned fairly easily, and this very portable, inexpensive instrument became popular with amateur players throughout the 1920s. In the late 1990s, players like Jake Shimabukuro brought about a resurgence of the ukulele.
